Meet the trainers
Heather Brown:
My name is Heather Brown, I’ve been training dogs for over 20 years. I got my first “adult” dog in 1990, Chelsie was a rott/Shepherd mix. She was a royal pain. She was just as rotten as she was lovable so I came up up with the bright idea to find an obedience trainer, I got out the yellow pages (this was before google, Facebook and market place.) Wow found one that would keep her a few weeks and I would get back a perfectly trained dog - how perfect for this single mother of 2 toddlers!! I dropped her off and when I went to pick her up at the end of the training it was NOT what I had been told or expected. I was told my dog was a challenge and handful. She had bitten the trainer several times including in front of me. I left with her and had an appointment for one on one training. Let’s just say that didn’t go as expected either. They were EXTREMELY rough with her and end result my dog had a crushed trachea from the trainer. I was in tears. I knew there had to be a more humane way to train dogs. I went to the library and found some good books one by Ian Dunbar so much better and my dog was on her way to being a good dog. In 1994 I had to have a mastiff! Found my perfect puppy and found a positive trainer for obedience. That trainer old me how beautiful my puppy was and I should show her! She introduced me to Annette Neff - Pet Behavioral Associates. Annette has been my mentor ever since. I became one of her trainers and Annette is one of my closest friends still to this date. As a matter of fact I am part of her Wildwood Border Terrier Family. I compete with my own dogs in many venues and continue to take seminars to expand my knowledge. I help with Union County’s 4h dog program for the last 15 plus years, as well as serving on the Union County 4h Advisory Council. I am a board member and trainer for Pets for Heroes. A member of the Border Terrier Club of America and have been on several of the speciality commitees and a member of The Border Terrier Club of Central Ohio, currently I serve the position of Treasurer. I have recently opened up a training location in Marysville where I hold many different types of classes, seminars and private lessons. I will also do in home consults. If you have any questions please reach out and ask! I am a CGC, AKC star puppy and Trick dog evaluator, AKC temperament test Judge, AKC Canine Ambassador, AKC Junior Showmanship Judge, Certified Canine Fitness Instructor, and a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.

Michelle Jewell:
I started training dogs in 4H when I was 8 years old. Training dogs has been my hobby ever since. I have shown many dogs in AKC events, including showmanship (conformation), obedience, rally and agility, as well as having titled many dogs in these events. I enjoy working with other people to train their dogs and see them accomplish their goals. I look forward to working with you!
